Details
Gran Cafe Tortoni: Café Tortoni opened its doors in Buenos Aires in 1858 and began operating at the northwest corner of Esmeralda and Rivadavia. It maintained that location until the mid-1880s. Its founder, Monsieur Jean Touan, chose the name in homage to the famous Tortoni in Paris, which was inaugurated during the Directory period and frequented by intellectuals and artists.
